In Sarajevo 14.01.2010 was held the first meeting of partners in the joint cross-border cooperation project that aims to improve the sound management of areas of outstanding natural value (AONV), approved by the European Commission in December 2009.

 Besides FORS Montenegro other project partners are Center for Sustainable Environmental Development Sarajevo, Nature Park "Logarska valley" from Slovenia, Association for Environmental «How green is my valley" Plaški from Croatia.

Project will last for two years, and value of programmed activities in Montenegro is 41,295 Euros. The European Commission will finance 80 % and the rest will be covered by the Municipality of Pljevlja.

The main objective of the project is to build capacities for sustainable management of areas of outstanding natural value and valorization of these areas for the purposes of eco-tourism development.

For the implementation of the proposed activities, three pilot areas were selected: Mountain Ljubisnja in the municipality of Pljevlja, natural monument "Spring of Bosnia" in Sarajevo Canton, the upper course of the river Dretulje in the city Plaški, Croatia.


Among other activities several professional workshops will be organized, development of sound management plans, funding and monitoring of established values, education of AONV managers, municipal employees and environmental rangers services and achieving cooperation with the local population in developing authentic products that will be offered to visitors of protected natural areas.
