![]() FORS Montenegro continued implementation of the project "Strengthening capacity to manage areas of outstanding natural value" On Monday 31st May 2010 at the premises of the Service for the construction and development of the municipality of Pljevlja, FORS Montenegro, in cooperation with the Municipality of Pljevlja, organized a workshop on "Development of tools for the effective management of areas of outstanding natural values." With regard to the objectives of the workshop FORS Montenegro highlights presentation fof opportunities and benefits related to sustainable management of areas of outstanding natural value as well as the introduction to the social and economic benefits for local people that offers areas of outstanding natural value. The workshop is part of the initial activities of the project "Strengthening capacity to manage areas of outstanding natural value" in which shall be for the purpose of evaluation of resources of Ljubisnja mountain to assess the need for management tools, prepare documentation, develop models for the management zone and strengthen the capacities of local governments , NGOs and business community on the implementation of the developed models. The workshop was conducted by representatives of organization OIKOS that are involved in the implementation of this project activity. Short reminder: Project ‘’Strengthening capacity to manage areas of outstanding natural value " is the result of partnership of four non-governmental organization NGO "FORS Montenegro - Foundation for Development of Northern Montenegro from Montenegro, the NGO" Centre for Environmentally Sustainable Development of Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Nature Park "Logarska valley" from Slovenia and Ecological Association "How Green is my Valley "Plaški from Croatia and is implemented in three project areas: Natural Monument Spring in the county Srajevo Bosnia, Bosnia and Herzegovina; upper stream of the river in Plaški Dretulje, Croatia, and mountain Ljubišnja in Pljevlja, Montenegro. The total project value for all three areas of implementation is 191,117 EUROS, of which 80% is financed from IPA funds secured from the Regional Fund of the European Commission, and 20% of project value are jointly provided by Pljevlja municipality, the Ministry of Physical Planning and Environmental Protection and the Municipality of the County Srajevo Plaski. The main objective of the project is to build the capacity of Western Balkan countries for the effective management of areas of outstanding natural value and preserve their natural resources. Promotion of regional cooperation, strengthening the awareness of sustainable development, exchange of experiences and best practices in the field of sustainable management will provide multiple benefits to the municipality of Pljevlja, especially for people living in the area of the mountain Ljubisnja. |
