Minister of Internal Affairs and Public Administration Ivan Brajovic opened the Regional Conference "Good governance, transparency and ethics at the local level", which was held on 3 and 4 June held at the Hotel ''Splendid'' organized jointly by Ministry of Internal Affairs and Public Administration, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and Council of Europe and Union of Municipalities of Montenegro.

  The Conference was attended by representatives of ministries responsible for local government in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina (Federation and Serbian Republic), Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia, as well as representatives of civil society in Montenegro. On behalf of FORS Montenegro conference was attended by Emil Kocan.
  
Local self-government in Montenegro has been recognized as a promoter of direct democracy at the local level, and Montenegro as a country that implements best practices in this area in southeast Europe, particularly in the implementation of anticorruption programs.
                 
Regional Conference has contributed not only to exchange experience between countries in the region and Europe, but also the future directions of development, aimed at creating a modern local government as an efficient, updated and open service for citizens.
